Picture this: It’s 4:17 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon, and you simply can’t sit yourself down to get your work done. You’ve tried everything, yet there are still thirteen plus items waiting for you on your to-do list. Since I think we’ve all been here a few too many times before, I’ve decided to put together a list that will turn your brain from couch potato to academic weapon.
- Listen to Study Music
All over Spotify and Apple Music you can find playlists named “Study Beats” or “Pure Focus.” Many people find it helpful to listen to these types of playlists as they can help to block out any excess noise or distractions. You can even try to study like your favorite Harry Potter characters while listening to a 3 hour long Hogwarts dark academia youtube video. Whatever helps you the most!
- Find Motivation
While we should be able to do our work simply because we know that we have to, sometimes we need to light that little spark within ourselves to actually get ourselves to put in the work. You could try searching up “Study Motivation” or “Study Core” on apps such as Tik Tok or Pinterest in order to excite yourself into working/studying. These videos can help you make working hard sound cooler and more enjoyable. Similarly, having a signature catch phrase or single reason why you want to put in the work can also help.
- Switch Up Your Workplace
Sometimes, we simply get bored of working from the same desk and chair. If possible, get up and find a new place to work. You could sit in another place of your house, or find a new library or coffee shop to sit in. A simple change in scenery can seriously make all of the difference.
- Find Time to Relax
If you’re constantly overworking yourself, finding the energy to continue can be nearly impossible. Thus, it is crucial that you set aside time that is just for you. Maybe every Sunday night you take an hour for self-care, or maybe you take yourself on a coffee date once weekly. Whatever you choose, make sure it is something that helps you alleviate stress.
